The concept of initial distillation point and dry point
Under standard conditions, the range of boiling points obtained by distillation of petroleum is called the "range".
It is an indication of the quantity and temperature at which the oil in the petroleum product may be distilled over a given temperature range.
Distillation range refers to the temperature range of evaporation characteristics from the initial distillation point to the final distillation point, which is obtained by distillation of oil under specified conditions.
The whole distillate process includes the initial distillate point and the final distillate point (or dry point), gasoline also includes 10%, 50%, 90% distillate temperature, residual amount, loss of these three items.
Under the specified test conditions, the temperature at which 100ml of petroleum is heated and distilled and the first drop of oil is extracted from the end of the condenser is called the initial distillation point.
In the final stage of distillation, the highest temperature at which all the liquid has evaporated is called the final distillation point.
During the test, when the distilled condensate recovered from the measuring cylinder is 10ml, 50ml and 90ml, the temperature is respectively called 10%, 50% and 90% distillation temperature.
Dry point: The maximum temperature at which the mercury column of the thermometer stops rising and begins to fall when the distillation range of an oil is determined under specified conditions.
