The PDI value (Pellet Durability Index) of feed pellets is a core indicator for evaluating the anti-crushing ability of pellet feed. The PDI value of feed, namely the Pellet Durability Index, is used to measure the ability of pellet feed to resist crushing and powder generation during loading, unloading, transportation, storage and feeding processes. A higher value indicates stronger pellet stability and lower feed loss.
Purpose of the Experiment
To evaluate pellet stability and provide a quality basis for the entire process of production, transportation, and feeding. Through the detection of the feed's PDI value, the production process can be optimized, transportation losses can be controlled, and the feeding effect can be guaranteed.

Testing method
A.bottom functions
“start”, start and stop testing
“inching”,adjust rotating box angle, make it easy to put in and out samples
Time adjusting,“>”shift,“^”add,for example, 0600 means 600s.
B.Testing procedure
Screen fines out of new samples and take 500gram(weight A), put in tester, rotate 20mins at 50r/min.
Screen fines out of these samples and weigh the samples(weight B)
C.calculation
PDI % = weight B g×100/Weight A g
D.screen select
| Pellet diameter(mm) | Screen model | Sieve diameter(mm) |
| 1.8 | 14 mesh | 1.4 |
| 2.5 | 10 mesh | 2.0 |
| 3.0 | 8 mesh | 2.5 |
| 3.5 | 7 mesh | 2.8 |
