The ST-13A automatic potentiometric titrator is designed in accordance with standards such as the determination of acid value in foods (GB5009.229-2016), the cold solvent automatic potentiometric titration method (the second method), and the determination of peroxide value in foods (GB5009.229-2019).

The instrument uses potentiometric titration to automatically identify the titration end point and automatically calculate the results. This instrument is suitable for the determination of acid value in various samples such as food acid value, which is one of the important indicators for determining the quality of edible oil. The titration system uses imported components, which are processed from corrosion resistant materials, with accurate measurement results and long service life.

Reagent preparation

● Potassium hydroxide standard titration aqueous solution with a concentration of 0.1 mol/L, prepared and calibrated in accordance with the requirements of GB/T601 standard, and commercially available reagents can also be purchased.

● Ether isopropanol mixture: Ether isopropanol=1+1500ml of ether and 500ml of isopropanol are fully miscible and mixed, ready to use.

The peroxide value reagents for potentiometric titration are as follows (prepared by the reagent itself) (extracted from the national standard)

9.1 Reagents

9.1.1 Glacial acetic acid.

9.1.2 Isooctane firing.

9.1.3 Potassium Iodide.

9.1.4 Sodium thiosulfate.

9.1.5 Potassium dichromate: working standard reagent.

9.2 Reagent preparation

9.2.1 Isooctane glacial acetic acid mixture (40+60): Measure 40 mL of isooctane, add 60 ml, and mix with glacial acetic acid.

9.2.2 Saturated potassium iodide solution: Weigh 20 g of potassium iodide, add 10 mL of newly boiled and cooled water, mix and store in a brown bottle, and store in a dark place for standby. Ensure that saturated potassium iodide crystals are present in the solution. Pre use inspection: In 30 mL of isooctane glacial acetic acid mixture.

Add 0.5 mL of saturated potassium iodide solution and 2 drops of 1% starch indicator to (9.2.1). If blue color appears and requires more than 1 drop of 0.01 mol/1 sodium thiosulfate solution to eliminate it, this solution should be prepared again.

9.3 Preparation of standard solution

9.3.1 0.1 mol/L sodium thiosulfate standard solution: Weigh 26 g of sodium thiosulfate and 0.2 g of anhydrous sodium carbonate, dissolve in 100 ml of water, slowly boil for 10 minutes to cool. After two weeks of storage, filter and calibrate.

9.3.2 0.01 mol/L sodium thiosulfate standard solution: prepared by diluting 9.3.1 with freshly boiled and cooled water. Prepare before use.
