Methanol (CH 3OH) is the simplest saturated mono-alcohol with CAS number 67-56-1 or 170082-17-4. Its molecular weight is 32.04 and boiling point is 64.7℃. Because it is discovered for the first time in dry run wood, it is also called "wood alcohol" or "wood essence". It's a colorless, alcohol-scented, volatile liquid. The lowest dose of oral poisoning is about 100mg/kg body weight, 0.3 ~ 1g/kg oral intake can be fatal.
