According to the latest provisions of the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MAROPL), the quality requirements for Marine fuel oil with sulfur content of 0.5%m/m or less have been increased sevenfold since January 1, 2020. On October 25, 2019, the Maritime Safety Administration of the Ministry of Transport of China issued the Implementation Plan of the Global Sulfur Limit on Marine Fuel in 2020, which stipulates that from January 1, 2020, international vessels shall not use fuel with sulfur content more than 0.5%m/m in waters under China's jurisdiction. It is prohibited to use fuel oil with sulfur content more than 0.1%m/m (expanded to Hainan waters in 2022) entering China's Inland river vessel Emission Control Zone, and it is prohibited to discharge washing water of open waste cleaning system in China's Ship Air pollutant Emission Control Zone.

The sulfur content of ship fuel can be detected by GB/T 17040-2008 "Determination of sulfur content of Petroleum Products (Energy dispersion X-ray fluorescence spectrometry method)". Sh407 X-ray fluorescence sulfur analyzer is designed and manufactured in strict accordance with this method. At the same time, SH407 X fluorescence spectrum sulfur analyzer adopts the principle of energy dispersion, mechanical and electrical integrated microcomputer design, the analysis is fast and accurate.
